Political Economy of Urban Green Spaces of Dhaka City

Urban forests are essential as they have substantial environmental and health benefits. USAID’s Compass project, implemented by USDA Forest Service, partnered with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) to study urban forestry management in depth. BUET organized a dissemination workshop today to share the findings of this study titled “Political Economy of Urban Green Spaces of Dhaka City.” Hon’ble Local Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mr. Md Tazul Islam, MP, graced the dissemination event. This study identifies the key stakeholders and their extent of involvement in green space management in Dhaka City. The findings of this study will be essential to continue the efficient management of green spaces in Dhaka City. Compass program engages in urban forestry to strengthen knowledge and build innovative tools to gather data that can influence decision-makers and policies in natural resource management.
