Enhance Capacity of CHT Communities in Forest Landscape Restoration

Compass Program jointly with Arannayk Foundation, and Tahzingdong organized a discussion meeting on June 3, 2021, in Bandarban on its plans to enhance the capacity of the community people on forest landscape restoration. As a Chief Guest, Hill District Chairman of Bandarban Mr. Kyaw Shwe Hla, appreciated the restoration and income-generating initiatives for local communities to reduce their dependency on the forests. In the event, local leaders and representatives of ethnic communities emphasized planting native species for enriching biodiversity and restore wildlife habitats.

Compass also organized a discussion session for celebrating World Environment Day on June 5, 2021 in presence of Rowangchari Upazila Chairman as Chief Guest and Vice-Chairman as a Special Guest. Later, distinguished guests planted trees and distributed saplings among community people.

U.S. Forest Service, implementing agency of Compass has signed a partnership agreement with Arannayk Foundation for implementation supports on restoration in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
